Kamala lies between Surin and Patong: a beach that shelves gently, a promenade, a market and ordinary Thai life around it — without the Patong nightlife.
Resort development holds the northern end, the village the southern one, where food and rents are cheaper. New buildings with bay views are going up on the slopes.
Patong is about fifteen minutes away, the airport about forty.

- Anyone coming for a long stay with family: quiet, with everything needed nearby.
- Anyone who wants a sea view for less than Surin costs.
What to keep in mind
- Letting dips more in low season than it does in Bang Tao.
- Some of the hillside blocks mean an uphill walk back from the beach.
